Nurturing Ourselves and Our Communities

In our gatherings we nurture both the softness of our woman spirit and our fierceness as protector. There, in the sharing of stories we feel the groundswell of Mama Bear rising, in the reflections that ask: Where do you find hope?

What is your grief of the world? What is your symbol of connection? We feel our arms opening wide. And in the collective movement from grief, fear and distraction inward to awareness and action we are gathering strength.

We are in the midst of a critical, urgent moment in the life of our beloved planet and we need one another to nurture our “mama bear” instincts and face the realities with our eyes and hearts wide open. It is simply too much to handle alone.

Even in the dark space of fear and grief, light and beauty still exist. During our nurture time “mama bears” enter that place together and emerge inspired and filled with a sense of playful resistance and resilience.

Grizzly Bears are an “indicator species” as a predator at the top of the food chain they are a symbol of a healthy ecosystem. We are the indicator species that must turn away from that which separates us and face in the right direction. As Mama Bears, we come together to share our grief over the state of the world and to acknowledge our power to act on its behalf.

Nurture

Ancient truths
pass through us.
Sometimes in dark nights
Sometimes by light

Some, lean into you like a whisper
Some, come as a thundering herd.
Catch them.
Find a way to speak their names

Questions: What Grounds You

What grounds you? Share your story, meditation, activity that grounds you.

A grounding exercise to share: Taking the image of a rope. Attach the rope to your tailbone and let it fall down to the center of the earth- through soil and sand, rock and water, sediments, stone, down to the center of the earth. Attach the rope anyway you'd like. Follow the rope back up. This rope is your grounding to our planet. It is hollow inside and through it you can send anything that is not yours- your own information, your own feelings- down to be recycled by the earth. It is hollow and through it you are connected to the earth. Through that grounding you will become expansive.
